Low and behold was a Garmin Index Scale 2 box, to take to the counter. When I look at the Index 2 vs Index 1, the weight is almost always nearly identical â such as .1lbs apart. Itâll find the device just like a watch. But nope. This is the cleanest itâll ever be. Impedance-based metrics like this should sometimes be taken with a grain of salt, however. If you’re a dedicated Garmin user, this is the smart scale for you — especially considering not many third-party scales can cleanly upload data to Garmin Connect. Garmin’s new scale supports up to 16 users, making it a good pick for large families or sports teams. Garmin Index is Wi-Fi connected, allowing you to wirelessly sync your data to Garmin Connect. In the case of the Index S2, it retains the same expensive price as previous, but now adds the new color display and trending information. Thatâs a good question. You can select and save up to 7 WiFi networks within the Index S2 scale. And yup, even the weather, showing the slated high/low for the day as well as the current temperature. With Bluetooth scales, well, we all know how unreliable Bluetooth connections can be. The 30-day graph is meant to tell you whether or not you’re heading in the right direction of your goals. And while the goal isnât realistically to try and have 1:1 replacement of fluids during a workout (especially running), you can at least use the information to guide your hydration choices. The Index 1 is working fine if it is connecting. I did have some initial issues trying to get the scale to pair with my Google WiFi guest network, however, once I set it for the primary Google WiFi network it worked fine. Iâve been using them side by side, seeing how they compare for a bit now. After all thatâs done, itâll display your weight one final time, and then shut itself off â waiting patiently for its 30 seconds of use each day. Measures weight, BMI, and full body composition. Also, backtracking a step or two slightly, youâll define the initials the scale displays when you step on it. Leave the scale be once you find your initials, and those stats will be sent over to your Garmin Connect account via Wi-Fi. From this moment forward itâll look worse, even if you never touch it. I suppose that might be valuable for use cases where a coach/physician/staff/athlete is moving the scale between locations on different WiFi networks, perhaps having a hotspot one + a normal office/home location. Really, nothing to complain about here. But realistically, this sorta thing shouldnât be on 3rd parties. Donât worry, weâll cover all the bits as part of this review here.
